The resort is well known for its lively apres ski scene which starts on the slopes. The Marmottes 1 chairlift is home to the La Folie Douce bar for some on snow entertainment or head to town to the Freeride cafe for an old school resort bar feel, frequented by locals and holiday makers alike. The resort is spread out with many lifts, so keep an eye out for the regular shuttle buses or plan which lift to start your day from.
Train is a great way to travel to Alpe d'Huez. You can get the Eurostar to Paris and the TGV down to Grenoble and then you can hop on a bus or grab a taxi to Alpe d'Huez. It normally takes a couple hours longer door to door than flying but can be a much more chill experience and you've got no baggage limits so can be great if you have your own skis. Chambery is a little further at 1 hour 45 minutes and Lyon is 2 hours away. But arguably your best option is Geneva, it's a little further at 2 hours 40 minutes but you have far more flight and transfer options from here. Alpe d'Huez is nicknamed 'The Island in the Sun' with it's South facing slopes getting over 300 days of sunshine each year. There's no freezing shade skiing here! And with it's glacier, 250km of piste and high altitude slopes there's plenty of snow as well.
